Club Safety Rules

Please read and follow the below safety rules, this will ensure a safe shooting environment for you and for others

One Long blast on a whistle is the signal to "cease fire". Guns, loaded or not, shall be pointed straight up in the air, or at the ground. Do not discharge gun for any reason after a whistle has been blown.

Two short blasts on a whistle is to signify shooting may resume.

Shooters must ensure that it is safe to do so before firing.

Gun when not in use, it must be kept unloaded and uncocked and placed in a club gun stand or in a boot of vehicle. When moving around shooters must ensure that the muzzle is pointed down at the ground and never points at a fellow shooter or spectator. A gun carried muzzle up, or slung over the shoulder is safe until you bend down, then your gun can point accidentally into someone's face. This is not acceptable, nor is a gun cradled in the arm, carried across the body or horizontally, by its scope.

You should always treat the gun as loaded.

Break-barrel guns - hold the barrel end during loading, to avoid injury in the event of accidental discharge.

Under-lever guns - hold the under lever during loading, to avoid injury in the event of accidental discharge.

All horseplay is strictly forbidden, do not dry fire guns in the car park, unless under the supervison of a supervisor / marshall.

At all times when at a lane, guns must be kept pointing down range, special care must be taken when loading.

All shooters are reminded that they should complain to a supervisor / marshall if they consider that a target is sighted un-safely or so close as to endanger anyone due to a ricochet, shooters are also reminded to shoot within there seeing distance.

All shooters and spectators must at all times keep to the pedestrian road/footpath, and at no times must a short cut be taken through the grounds or wooded areas.
A supervisor / marshall is only allowed to be beyond the shooting point.

Please be aware of any other current safety rules on display around the premises.

Safety glasses must be worn whilst using a chronograph and only club members specified by a supervisor / marshall are to be allowed to use the club chronograph.
